It’s a laid back June on Koh Phangan

PADI Divemaster from Chaloklum Diving makes safety stop with fish.As usual we’re experiencing glorious hot, sunny, calm weather and the island is really quiet!
It does look like the whale sharks have moved on to somewhere else in the Gulf of Thailand for a (hopefully short) while, but we’re not worrying as the SCUBA diving and snorkelling at Sail Rock remains especially fine.
As it’s low season on Koh Phangan there’s still not a lot of demand for different diving trips as yet – not long now… We hear that conditions at most of the Koh Tao dive sites are good but the prevailing summer south-westerly wind is messing with the visibility at Angthong Marine Park, so we’re still not sure whether to risk going all the way there…
It’s good to see the the team reassembling for the coming season – a rejuvenated Michi is back from a few weeks of old-style small island life in Malaysia, and Chris has just returned with a vast archive of underwater memories from a macro photographers paradise in Indonesia (pygmy seahorses, harlequin shrimps, exotic nudibranch, you name it…).
Big thanks to new team members Stephi and Matt who have been helping us focus on the social networking side of the diving school – you might have noticed that we are now featuring our photographic efforts on Instagram – do have a look and feel free to follow us!
Finally welcome back to another PADI Divemaster Chris – trained about 6 years ago by Chaloklum Diving and finally getting a break from the grind in Europe – he is much impressed by our dive centre on the beach, which we take for granted these days…
