Barracuda and Mullet; Mugiloidei

It’s curious that the barracuda should be in the same family as the mullets, when they have such different habits. Anyway, both can be seen when diving or snorkelling at most of our dive sites.

This fish is rare in Koh Phangan waters - our only good photos are from Sail Rock.

The smallest of our barracudas. A schooling fish.

A big beast that hangs out wherever there's even a mild current, and is still common where we dive.

A medium-sized barracuda, usually seen in large groups that keep in a tight formation. Great to watch.

Busy fish, scooping detritus from the bottom and sieving it as they swim upwards.
