Batfish; Ephippididae

Our 3 true Batfish are not always easy to tell apart as adults – it seems like they are all called Teira Batfish as a general convenience by diving schools…

Our most common Batfish - a confident fish that hangs out in big schools.

Although we have seen no juveniles yet, we think that this is not Platax orbicularis or teira.

The adult form is very similar to the Teira Batfish but the juveniles are not the same at all!

This fish should not be here! It should be in the family Monodactylidae but as most people think that it is a batfish, here it stays.
