Posted by on Jan 25, 2019 in | Comments Off on Viguieriotidae, Xmas Soft Coral

Xmas Soft Coral has a quite different growth form from the Neptheidae soft corals. For whatever reason it is not a member of any suborder – a unique family! All these underwater photographs were taken at local dive sites in the Chaloklum Bay...

Looks like a busy August on Koh Phangan

It’s August already, and Koh Phangan is getting much more lively. It’s that time of the year when everyone wants to do their PADI course and go fun diving or snorkelling. This is fine for the team at the dive centre – we like to be busy and especially love the chance to offer a variety of dive trips. So Chaloklum Diving are back in the water today with 3 PADI programmes, from beginner to professional.  Jan is a busy instructor with an Open Water Diver course plus Rescue Diver training with his and our friend, the Georgy Boy.  The man will be assisted by our dedicated...

Posted by on Nov 14, 2017 in | Comments Off on Myriopathes species, Black Coral

This species of Myriopathes Black Coral is seen only at relatively deep dive sites, away from Koh Phangan. We are looking mainly at the wonderful Samran and Southwest Pinnacles. We thought that these underwater photos were of some kind of big hydroid for many years – slowly we are getting...
