April news – Koh Phangan

As we approach the Songkran Festival on Koh Phangan, it’s a surprise to see that the island is far from busy. Having said that, it’s a not such a bad thing for the diving school as a few of our PADI professionals are taking short breaks in the near future. Diving-wise over the last month we’ve been making a lot more big boat trips than usual to Koh Phangan’s local dive sites, as the diving has been particularly good here a lot of the time. A Koh Tao trip remains a definite possibility but sadly we’ve not been getting any good reports from Anthong Marine Park for...

It’s a laid back June on Koh Phangan

As usual we’re experiencing glorious hot, sunny, calm weather and the island is really quiet! It does look like the whale sharks have moved on to somewhere else in the Gulf of Thailand for a (hopefully short) while, but we’re not worrying as the SCUBA diving and snorkelling at Sail Rock remains especially fine. As it is also low season, it means that we have been neglecting our other favourite destinations – Anthong Marine Park and Koh Tao are still very much off the schedule although we have had some nice SCUBA dives at our local, Koh Phangan dive...

A hectic SCUBA Diving week on Koh Phangan…

We’ve just had a really fine week of diving in the Gulf of Thailand – 6 days of dive trips to 5 different destinations – with good visibility, calm seas and hot, sunny days. After this January’s weather and conditions we were having some problems remembering how it’s meant to be – SCUBA diving on the paradise island of Koh Phangan! Anyway Jan and his team of divers have already moved on to experience the delights of Khao Sok National Park – we wish them a great time, with thanks once again for diving with us. This means that we can confidently say...

We have photographed the Map Pufferfish on 2 occasions so far, on diving and snorkelling trips to the Marine Park and Koh Tao. It has a different patterning to and doesn’t grow as large as the Starry...
