Where does the time go on Koh Phangan?

Well, it feels like just a few weeks since we last posted a Chaloklum Diving blog but it’s actually nearly 2 months – we must be having too much fun! August has been a busy month as per normal, although the weather has been a little shaky at times, and it’s been great to get out to Anthong Marine Park on a regular basis again – with generally fine diving and snorkelling. We were surprised when conditions went down at Sail Rock a week or so ago, but are happy to say that they were back to 20+ metre vis and gentle current yesterday. Diving trips to Koh Tao have not been...

Quiet times on Koh Phangan

The Gulf of Thailand is calm, the weather is generally sunny (with the occasional serious shower), the SCUBA diving and snorkelling conditions are good and we even have whale sharks making appearances at Sail Rock. It’s such a shame that this time of the year is meant to be our rainy season!! Over the last few years we’ve been seeing this change in the weather – and now we’re trying to let divers know that there can be a chance of great diving on quieter dive sites at this time of year. Longer trips are off the agenda at present, so we’re not making any plans to...

A belated Chaloklum Diving update from a HOT Koh Phangan

We blame it on the heat! It’s so been so hot during the day at the dive centre in Chaloklum that we have just enough energy to manage the day-to-day business, but serious stuff like writing a diving school blog tends to get put off ’til tomorrow… However, it’s not so hot on a morning now and the blog is definitely overdue, so here goes. Koh Phangan is for sure even more torrid than normal for this time of year, and with minimal wind it means that the Gulf of Thailand is super calm, making for some great diving and snorkelling. And so of course (as ever!) the island...

Fine SCUBA Diving & Snorkelling at Full Moon Party time on Koh Phangan!

It doesn’t always happen, so we are truly happy to say that the SCUBA diving and snorkelling from Koh Phangan is looking great again, with a forecast of sunny weather and calm seas! As the full moon party is due in a few days we are able to offer a schedule for our dive boat and should be making trips to Anthong Marine Park, Sail Rock and the East coast of Koh Tao over the next days. As we also have a few dedicated divers and Chaloklum Diving supporters with us who will be staying for some time to go diving and in some cases to complete some PADI continuing education, we are planning...

Chaloklum Diving star at the Boot Show 2016!

As we wait for the weather to clear on Koh Phangan after a nasty post full moon party storm, the nicest view of Chaloklum Bay is at the “Boot Show” in Dusseldorf! Fred & the team (Freddies Angels?) are working hard promoting the delights of scuba diving in the Gulf of Thailand, as well as all the other interesting activities that are possible on our delightful island. We’re waiting with anticipation for photos of Angie joining the gang and for the progress of the Chaloklum Diving Facebook “selfie” competition… The diving school PADI professionals have...
