It’s a laid back June on Koh Phangan

As usual we’re experiencing glorious hot, sunny, calm weather and the island is really quiet! It does look like the whale sharks have moved on to somewhere else in the Gulf of Thailand for a (hopefully short) while, but we’re not worrying as the SCUBA diving and snorkelling at Sail Rock remains especially fine. As it’s low season on Koh Phangan there’s still not a lot of demand for different diving trips as yet – not long now… We hear that conditions at most of the Koh Tao dive sites are good but the prevailing summer south-westerly wind is messing with...

A hectic SCUBA Diving week on Koh Phangan…

We’ve just had a really fine week of diving in the Gulf of Thailand – 6 days of dive trips to 5 different destinations – with good visibility, calm seas and hot, sunny days. After this January’s weather and conditions we were having some problems remembering how it’s meant to be – SCUBA diving on the paradise island of Koh Phangan! Anyway Jan and his team of divers have already moved on to experience the delights of Khao Sok National Park – we wish them a great time, with thanks once again for diving with us. This means that we can confidently say...

Happy New 20 Years from the Chaloklum Diving team

Greetings from a busy diving school – as soon as the new year kicked in, the diving and snorkelling conditions turned lovely – along with the weather! So nice that we were able to visit one of our favourite dive sites – Anthong Marine Park – much sooner than normal for a fine day out. Our dive boat is at Sail Rock today and has already reported excellent visibility, monster schools of barracuda, calm seas and just a little current on the 2nd dive. The team are busy diving of course, and beyond the usual Discover Scuba Diving and Open Water Diver training we have a...

May is a peaceful month on Koh Phangan in the Gulf of Thailand

Chaloklum Diving School has been quite busy towards the end of April and into early May with the opportunity to make a few dive trips to the Marine Park and Koh Tao as well as Sail Rock, plus Michi and the team teaching a bunch of PADI Open Water Divers plus a few Advanced courses. However over the last week, as per normal, everything has started to slow down on Koh Phangan and we can relax a little. This is definitely not a bad thing, as Michael has just left to take a months break in Germany – how many years since you’ve been home, hey man?? – and our hard working...

It’s PADI Open Water Diver Course time on Koh Phangan!

The Dive School blog is up and running again, with apologies to the Chaloklum Diving supporters out there who actually like to hear our small news from Koh Phangan! We’ve had OK dive conditions at Sail Rock for the last few days (and a whale shark 2 days ago), but today the sun shone and the sea was nice and calm too – Michi was able to do shallow water dive training at the back of the dive centre this morning for the first time in weeks. We have heard nothing about a change in conditions at Anthong Marine Park (please, please let there be..) so are planning to take our boat to...
