A belated Chaloklum Diving update from a HOT Koh Phangan

Diving school cat feels the heat on a hot Koh Phangan day!We blame it on the heat! It’s so been so hot during the day at the dive centre in Chaloklum that we have just enough energy to manage the day-to-day business, but serious stuff like writing a diving school blog tends to get put off ’til tomorrow… However, it’s not so hot on a morning now and the blog is definitely overdue, so here goes.

Koh Phangan is for sure even more torrid than normal for this time of year, and with minimal wind it means that the Gulf of Thailand is super calm, making for some great diving and snorkelling. And so of course (as ever!) the island has been fairly quiet and we’ve been mainly diving Sail Rock and Koh Phangan local dive sites – although we are hoping that with the full moon party approaching we should have a few more divers, so that we can make a trip out to Anthong Marine Park (nearly confirmed…) or Koh Tao and promote some fine snorkelling too.

The diving school is not so busy but we do have a nice mix of PADI courses going on – a French Discover Scuba Diving session at Sail Rock, a Spanish Advanced O/W course, an English Rescue Diver and a German Open Water Diver Course starting soon, as well as a few fun divers.

Michael’s back from a cold Germany, Lek is back from a sweltering Surin and Sascha is taking a break on Koh Lanta for some serious festivities! Petra will be taking a short break in DE soon, as we look forward to the return of the mighty Heinz and (the lovely) Angie next month… And well done maaan to our latest PADI Instructor, Jan – Chaloklum Diving courses now available in Czech!
