The Dive School Autumnal Report

Mr Heinz the fun diving Instructor at Sail Rock, ThailandAfter a relatively hectic August on Koh Phangan, September has not turned out to be a busy month for the dive school – although as so often happens, we’ve had some great SCUBA diving and snorkelling to offer.
OK – so the local diving, especially at Mae Haad Reef and Koh Ma, has sometimes been affected by the prevailing South-westerly wind but Chaloklum Bay has remained calm – continuing fine for PADI courses, SCUBA reviews and for Nick to do some underwater photography…
Our biggest frustration has been that Anthong Marine Park has had consistently great conditions on the few times that we have managed to take our dive boat out there – and all our customers loved their day out…
…but most divers who come to Koh Phangan are only interested in going to Sail Rock, especially when the Whale Sharks are visiting again. Also, surprisingly, we had virtually no enquiries for Koh Tao.
Various team members have moved/are moving out for a few months low season break from the dive centre – soon we’ll be back down to the skeleton (metaphorically!) crew of the Michaels, Jan and Nick – but we do have at least 2 PADI Rescue Diver and Divemaster courses on the go to keep Michi and Jan from getting into mischief.
It’s the farewell party for Mr Heinz tonight (facebook photos to follow) – leaving Koh Phangan tomorrow to rejoin Angie in Germany. Best wishes and hope all goes well from Chaloklum Diving, also to Stephi, Matt, Niko and Nastasia – see y’all again soon!
