Koh Phangan has had a quiet, restful June and the team at the dive centre have been taking it fairly easy, and why not indeed? It’s fine to take a break, but also a little frustrating when Sail Rock has such great diving conditions and we haven’t made it out to Angthong Marine Park or Koh Tao for some diving and snorkelling for much too long…
Hopefully the summer months will see rather more SCUBA action at the dive shop – amongst other things we are hoping to offer a wider variety of diving trips, and to promote more speciality dive courses featuring our experience and expertise. Although it’s goodbye & best wishes from all of us to newly certified PADI Divemaster Chris (hope you enjoy the cold waters of Seattle!), it’s already welcome back to Petra, and both Fred and Jan are due back to enliven the Chaloklum Diving team in the forthcoming weeks.
On the PADI training front, July will see an addition and a change to our programmes. We will be offering the new PADI “Freediver” course, due to a number of enquiries and a lot of enthusiasm within the team – look out for some special promotions soon… And it’s goodbye to the “old” Open Water Diver course – as it offers more elements of practical diving training, from July onwards we will be teaching only the “new” updated version.
Last bit of good news is that the environmental organisation “Greenfins” finally made it to Koh Phangan last week to approve our dive centre and boat, so that we can now actively support them as a member – more news and initiatives to follow.
