December news from Koh Phangan

PADI Rescue Diver Course in Chaloklum Bay, Koh PhanganOK, so the weather was pretty dreadful around full moon party time on Koh Phangan, but for the last 2 days the sun has reappeared and the sea has gone flat. We are now getting used to this happening during our so-called rainy season. It’s amazing how quickly the Gulf of Thailand can change its character!

So Chaloklum Diving are back in the water today with 3 PADI programmes, from beginner to professional.  Jan is a busy instructor with an Open Water Diver course plus Rescue Diver training with his and our friend, the Georgy Boy.  The man will be assisted by our dedicated Divemaster trainee, Mr Frank. He is enjoying the chance to be back in the sea after a lot of chilly pool sessions…

We should be making a boat dive trip in the next day or 2, as soon as the visibility has cleared up a little at Sail Rock. Sadly we doubt that a trip to the Marine Park would be worth it, but Koh Tao is a possibility for snorkelling as well as diving if the weather stays good.

Back at the dive centre Michael has just about finished his annual servicing of our diving equipment and can escape the workshop at last! Michi is resting his back after some serious travelling in SE Asia, but should be back in the water soon. And Nick is itching to set the camera up (as ever!) for some serious underwater photography sessions…
