Koh Tao lies another hour beyond Sail Rock and is the most famous diving destination in the Gulf of Thailand. When we make a dive trip to Koh Tao we usually visit the quieter dive sites on the South and East coast of the island, as other areas can get rather busy (and we don’t want to see “more divers than fish”!).
Most of the the dive sites are suitable for snorkelling with some nice corals and reef fish in the shallows. Clear water, some good underwater scenery and one or two marine life rarities that we don’t see at Koh Phangan or the Marine Park.
Dive sites that we most often visit include Shark Island, Tanote Bay and Laem Tian with the occasional dive on the Satakut Wreck when we know that the visibility is good.
