Dendrophylliidae family

Dendrophylliidae family hard corals have relatively large polyps. They don’t all contain photosynthetic algae so can live in dark or shady locations. Our most popular genera are communal organisms, but we do also have some solitary individuals.

Their large corallum and strong colours make them a great underwater photography subject.

Often looking like a set of craters on a smooth background when their corallum are retracted.

It's not easy to tell the difference between the different species in this genus.
