The Soft Corals

These are what we would regard as true soft corals – from the now defunct sub-order Alcyoniina. None of these families seem to have any strengthened skeletal structure, unlike the fan and whip corals.

Various Dendronephya and Lemnalia species from the old sub-order Neptheidae.

Some of the less spectacular soft coral genera - Klyxum, Lobophytum, Sarcophyton, Sclerophytum and Sinularia Coral. All in a variety of shades of brown! (5 Galleries)

Chironephthya seems to be a special Soft Coral from the Gulf of Thailand.

Studeriotes is a family of distinctively shaped Soft Corals.
