Emperors and Seabream; Lethrinidae

Emperors and Seabream are medium to large fishes, similar to and close relations of the Snappers and the Sweetlips. None of them are especially common at our dive sites, but still can be found.

Blue-lined Emperor; Lethrinus species

This may actually be a variant of the Pink-ear Emperor - we are not sure...

Long-nosed Emperor; Lethrinus olivaceus

Fishbase says it all - quote Probably the largest, longest-snouted Lethrinid unquote.

Pink-ear Emperor; Lethrinus lentjan

On this fish the rear margin of the opercle and sometimes the base of the pectoral fin is red, giving the impression of pink ears (well, maybe).

Other Emperors and a Sea Bream

Longfin, Sky, Smalltooth, Spangled and Threadfin Emperors plus a Naked-headed Seabream.
