The Molpadiidae are a truly obscure family of Sea Cucumbers. We had no idea what this beast was for years – seen drifting over the sand at Mae Haad Reef, Koh Phangan. Unlike most Holothurians it has an elongated body, smooth skin, no tube feet and in this case is close to neutrally buoyant.
We think that this is a deeper water creature that somehow got carried into the shallows…
