Well… we are not going to say “who believed that it would last this long” as none of us ever did! Chaloklum Diving is still running thanks to all the help from our supporters over the last year, but the prospect of getting back to full time work seems as far away as ever.
So we have reluctantly decided to relocate the dive centre to our home (also in Chaloklum Village) until business returns to normal in Thailand. We are happy whenever we actually get the rare chance to do some work, but there’s nowhere near enough to justify renting our lovely premises at the moment. Please don’t worry, Chaloklum Diving remains completely operational – just from a different base. We’ve already paid all our fees for 2021 anyway!
2 of the team are actually quite busy. Michi is attending an instructor crossover course & having to do homework (hahaha!) as well as learning some interesting techniques in the swimming pool, while Nick starts on dismantling the dive centre… There’s another bout of Northeast monsoon blowing at the moment, so it’s too rough to dive but for sure we’ll be back for some underwater stress relief therapy as soon as possible!
Being positive & looking forward to when the current rainy season decides to finish (!) & travel starts again in Thailand (!!) we want to try offering a range of activities other than diving. For example it’s been suggested that we could be doing a lot more with our boat… Please let us know if you have any interesting ideas to entertain our Thai & expat customers until the world gets back to normal.
Best wishes from the team.
