It’s Padi Courses time on Koh Phangan, July 15th.
Suddenly lots of people want to start their Padi beginners diving courses. We actually have 7 Open Water students currently in training (with 3 instructors, of course!) which is great news for the dive centre, after a month or so of mainly taking certified divers on diving trips or conducting Discover Scuba Diving. Of course we are still fun diving; Sail Rock is fine, as you can see from the photo, as is Koh Tao, and we’re waiting for a wind change to clear the visibility at the Marine Park… All’s good at the dive shop in Chaloklum and everyone is working reasonably hard....

We had a busy diving trip today, with it being the full moon party tonight, and a good time was had by all at Sail Rock. But it must be said that although Haad Rin might be busy on Koh Phangan, Chaloklum Village is definitely not! Good news is that the strong Southwesterly wind that we’ve been experiencing over the last week or so is just about over, and we’re already planning a first trip out to some Koh Tao dive sites, to keep our snorkelling customers happy as well as our divers. Congratulations to Fernando, the dive shop’s latest Padi Open Water Diver certification; big...

Well, it came together at last & we made a diving trip to Samran Pinnacles yesterday. After some fun finding the pinnacles we enjoyed 2 leisurely dives with great conditions on a favourite dive site. It was a special day for the macro team too, with some fine nudibranch found & duly photographed; photos are up on facebook already! We then moved to a quiet Sail Rock with only 2 small dive boats left & had a nice, peaceful 3rd dive with good conditions. Who could ask for more? Our next special should be to the Marine Park v. soon… It’s nice to have a few of our friends...

Nice late summer conditions in the Gulf of Thailand; generally hot and sunny with a gentle, variable breeze and a late afternoon or evening thunderstorm when it’s been really scorching. Sail Rock is still consistently the best of our dive sites but we’ve had nice diving trips to Koh Tao too. Marine Park and local diving have been rather more variable but generally OK… At the start of this month Koh Phangan became a quieter island; Captain Dam even had a day off on the 5th! Team wise Gabriele is leaving for Italy to put a bit of weight on, Mr Kim is back with us &...
